A Celebration of Life

It’s Saturday night and we just finished ordering a round of drinks at the table. I look to my left and then to my right. All my closet friends and family have come to celebrate another year of my life. In that very moment, I feel so blessed, so appreciative for the breathe of life and for a circle of loved ones.

So many people say that don’t celebrate their birthday and that it is just another day. After 33 years on this planet, I realize that many people born the year time as me don’t get to see their 33rd birthday. And for many others that do get there, may be suffering from physical or mental illness that impacts their quality of life. Look up and realize that there is always something to celebrate even in your worst times. You are lucky and you are blessed. God will get you through so praise him anyway. Recognize that celebrating you is celebrating Him and His handiwork because the day you were born, the heavens opened up and the angels celebrated.

Take time to appreciate your life just as it is. A celebration doesn’t have to be extravagant either. It can be blowing out a simple cupcake at home, treating yourself to a massage, or simply giving yourself permission to do nothing for a day. Whatever your preference is, just be intentional about how you want to honor yourself that day. Because it isn’t just another day. It’s your day.

Happy past and present birthdays to all my loves reading this!
