Our Mexico Baecation

Hubby and I traveled to Costa Mujeres for a Mexico baecation! We stayed at the Majestic Elegance and it was nothing short of amazing! Since becoming parents, we have not taken a real vacation without the baby. It was the getaway we didn’t realize our marriage needed! A 6 night all inclusive beach vacation? Yes please! Now let’s get into the deets…

Covid Precautions

One of the main fears of traveling during this time is the spread of Covid-19. We love that this resort took the proper covid precautions. There were no self serve buffets, masks were required indoors (except when seated at dinner table) and all staff wore masks at all times. Patrons kept their distance and we felt safe during the entire trip. As for the flight, we flew with Jet Blue and those flight attendants were not playing lol! If you were not in the middle of eating or drinking they asked you to put your mask back on. A negative covid test was required to return to the U.S. and the resort provided it at no cost. Now on to the fun stuff!

Accommodations

The Majestic Elegance resort was the perfect place for our Mexico baecation. The grounds were beautiful and the service was superb. We had the plunge pool room which had 2 floors complete with a private rooftop deck. Our pool overlooked the resort and part of the ocean. The rooftop also had a patio section for lounging and a daybed. This room category came with butler service. The main floor had a king size bed, balcony, living room area, soaker tub, rainfall shower, and separate toilet room. We barely wanted to leave the room especially with 24 hour room service included!

Entertainment

We were very pleased with the entertainment team. They had music and activities like zumba and bingo by the pool. One day they even had a pool party with a DJ. At night they had dancers and singers on their main stage outdoors. We definitely were not bored. They had a sports bar with billiards and big screens for the after hours crowd as well.

The Food

What’s a vacation without good eats right?!?! The food was good for an inclusive resort. Nothing fancy. But I will say that they had something for every palate. Every menu had vegetarian and gluten free options. As a vegetarian myself- I did not struggle to find anything to eat. I had plenty of good options. I eat fish and I do have to say that the fish options were plentiful and very good. If you are a dessert person- this is where they lacked in my opinion. I did not see any of the traditional latin desserts. But overall we couldn’t complain.

The Spa

This was one the highlights of our Mexico baecation. The spa was simply AMAZING!!! I booked a massage and facial. They did an incredible job on both. The facility was gorgeous. I enjoyed the hydrotherapy and other pools they had. They give you a cold towel for your face while you’re in the sauna. The staff guides you through the spa pools so that you experience all it has to offer. One pool made me feel like I was swimming in a real cave. I loved it!

The Beach & Pool

There were plenty of shady beach huts and day beds at the beach. The wait staff came around often for drink orders. Although the water was warm and blue, there was a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water. Jeff didn’t get in at all lol. The pools were great and we enjoyed them most days. There were plenty of pool bars and pool butlers to ensure your pina colada was never empty!

The Take-Away

The most important part of the trip is that we created memories and reconnected with each other. Our Mexico baecation was just what our marriage needed. We really needed to get away from the everyday routine. As much as we love our daughter we needed that time away from her too! Our lives practically revolve around her now. It was good for us to focus on just us. We had plenty of deep conversations and realizations in that time. It’s our 4 year anniversary and we thank God for it all!!
