Relax & Rejuvenate

Many years ago my cousin and I went on our first spa date. I always thought of the spa as a place to just get service such as your massage, facial, mani/pedi and then you go home. But then we discovered new spas that offered so much more than just service. They give you comfortable clothes to change into, they have lounging areas, whirlpools, hydrotherapy, and healing saunas. Since then we’ve made it a point to go every few months to detox, relax, and reconnect with each other. Life gets so busy and this became our little way of getting relaxed and rejuvenated. We became self-care partners, encouraging each other to live healthy lives in general while having fun.

Spa We Love

We absolutely love spa days at Sojo Spa Club in New Jersey. It’s more than just a spa- it feels like an oasis. It’s clean, beautiful, and offers the serenity we expect to get away from it all. When we entered we were greeted with a robe or shorts/shirt combo to change into. You walk around barefoot which is fine because the floors are kept spotless. You have a locker to put your clothes into and a wearable rubber wristband that locks it. We usually spend around 6-7 hours here getting lost in the whirlpools and saunas. The massages are also wonderful. We really love the infinity pool on one of the top levels that offers breathtaking views of the NYC skyline. We used the rooftop garden to soak in some sun and just enjoy the breeze.

When hunger strikes, they offer a lunch and snack menu with a variety of options for all diet preferences. You can enjoy your meal outside overlooking the Hudson River. I am a vegetarian and Surrenca is vegan but we had no problems finding something on the menu to enjoy. I love days like this where this nothing but positive vibes and no stress.

Detoxifying

I love being out in the whirlpools, hydrotherapy pools, infinity pool (all the pools!) but my favorite part of the spa is the sauna. And Sojo has 5 of them plus 2 therapy rooms each claiming a different benefit. At 180 degrees and higher the saunas are designed to make you sweat. Sweating has so many health benefits such as maintaining a healthy weight, boosting immunity, increasing energy levels, improving you mood, promoting good sleep, and best of all detoxing! Sweating allows your lymphatic system to release all those heavy metals built up in your body (that’s probably wreaking all kinds of havoc!) These include BPA from plastic bottles and copper from foods.

Sweat releases more heavy metals than any other elimination system in your body (yes- more than urine!) It’s no wonder I love the saunas so much and look forward to spending as much time as possible in them during my spa time. We’re surrounded daily by environmental and food toxins so detoxing on a regular basis is super important. Sojo offers a charcoal room, red clay room, white clay room, and far-infrared room that offers all different benefits from digestive health and better circulation to skin healing and energy restoration. My favorite is the charcoal room made with Korean lump wood charcoal that is specifically designed to draw out those heavy metals and chemical toxins from your system.

Spa For Your Health

When you take time out for yourself there is not only a physical benefit but a psychological one too. Sometimes you need a mental break for a few hours doing something just for yourself. The spa is a great option to de-stress and come home feeling relaxed and happy despite all the craziness life has been throwing your way. Believe it or not, making time for yourself will do wonders for your relationship. When I’m relaxed and in a good mood everything is better, including the sex. So make it a priority in your life!
