4 fun & Cheap date night ideas in nyc

Dating in NYC doesn’t have to be expensive. We try to go on a date night every other week and it does not have to break the bank! We got tired of going out to eat all the time and decided to look into some other things to do on our nights out. The truth is that dating never stops, especially after marriage. Being a little creative and open minded can lead to some fun nights laughing all the way home.

Paint & Sip

Jeff and I call this painting and (mostly) sipping! This is such a great way to get out on a budget and do something fun with your S.O. We went out on a Saturday night to the Paint Place after picking up a Groupon. Why spends a hundred bucks at the bar when you can bring your own bottle (BYOB) and bring your own snacks?!?!? With good music playing in the background it’s a no brainer for a budget friendly date night. We got to do a partner picture (where two pics make one) and we made fun of each other all night at who’s looked the worst! Hey listen, we weren’t exactly looking to make this a centerpiece. It was really fun trying though! This will run you about $35 a piece!

Boating In Central Park

Imagine a warm Sunday afternoon, soaking in the sun while leisurely rowing on the water. This is what we enjoyed on our date ‘night’ to Central Park. This was so beautiful. Who says dates have to be at night anyway? We absolutely love central park and wish we can go more often! If only we lived in the city. For you New Yorkers, take advantage of this special place. Central park is a true gem especially in the summer. The boat rentals go for about $15 per hour. You can’t beat that! You can definitely have a date day in the city even on a tight budget.

Rooftop Lounge

If you don’t mind going out a little earlier than your typical ‘date’ time, then this can really work out for you. Jeff and I got a deal that included two drinks each and one appetizer to share at the Sky Room. This can be found on ….you guessed it…Groupon! We had to be in before 8pm but we weren’t limited to only going on a weekday. We got dressed nice and early on a Saturday evening and enjoyed the place before it got super packed. Since we were already inside, we go to stay for the full on party that started at 10pm. We felt like we got a two-for-one deal because we got to party on the same admission (costs around $40 for both of us)! We had so much fun dancing the night away on NYC’s highest rooftop.

Sunsets On A Yacht

Nothing is better or more romantic than being on the water watching the sunset with bae. Summer time in NYC is packed with after work cruises that set sail from about 6p-10p every day. To make it budget friendly we went on a weekday (Thursday) after work. Drinks are not included but the views and the warm breeze are so intoxicating that you won’t even need anything else! At around $20 per couple, it’s the perfect romantic evening out without breaking the bank!
