It’s Saturday night and we made 6:30pm reservations for an early dinner on date night. We ran into traffic and pulled up to the valet at 7pm. We were prepared to be told that our table wouldn’t be ready and that we would have to wait. Instead, once we arrived at Ventanas At The Modern, we were greeted with a smile and escorted right away to a table with a view of their beautiful courtyard. We were very impressed with the decor, as it resembles something out of a movie. We sat under a gorgeous, large chandelier and there were many more throughout the restaurant. Over the bar was a bit different with parasol and jellyfish type lighting. Across from there, above the open kitchen, a huge meticulously painted mural of a woman with bright eyes and short black hair. It’s a cross between pan-asian, latin, and America flare. All complete with ambiance lighting and candlelit tables.

I ordered a pomegranate martini which was amazing. Didn’t want to try anything else after that first sip!

The waiter asked if we had any dietary restrictions before taking our order. Once I said I was a vegetarian he made some recommendations. I tried two different appetizers- the quinoa salad and the baked cauliflower. OMG, you never had cauliflower or quinoa salad like this before. As a matter of fact, forget everything you know about those food items because Ventanas makes them like no other! The cauliflower is a little crispy on the outside and sits in a delicious seasoned sauce. The quinoa salad sat on a bed of freshly made guacamole. I never tasted anything like it. I was doing my happy dance the whole time. Jeff was just looking at me. LOL.

Jeff’s appetizer came out on sticks and clothes pins. He had the cooked bacon which were thick slices of meat that you hold steady with the clothes pins and cut with scissors. Very interesting and uniquely presented. Jeff enjoyed it. I’ve never seen anything like it.

For the entree, I got the branzino fish. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, just the way I like it. Jeff ordered the shrimp pasta which came served in a skillet. His only complaint was not enough shrimp but the ones he had were pretty good. We shared a side of mixed vegetables which were well seasoned.

Desert did not disappoint! We shared the raspberry tart. This had layers of cream, raspberries, and sorbet. It came with a honey sauce to pour over the whole thing. It was so delicious.

This was an incredible date night. We left full and happy. The service the impeccable. We never had to ask for water refill or even look for the waiter because he was always around. We would definitely be back and we highly recommend for a romantic evening out with your bae.

Dating each other is one of the most enjoyable things you can do after marriage. Get dressed up for your man or your woman. Open her door. Enjoy a wonderful meal together. Afterwards, go home and enjoy the intimacy that follows. Keep that going in your marriage to stay happily in love with each other.
